X-ray and gamma-ray celestial observations from the International Space Station: MAXI and CALET
Date: April 25, 2013 16:00
Place: Conference Hall (1F), Institute for Advanced Research
Speaker: Kazutaka Yamaoka (Nagoya University)
Abstract:
X- and gamma-ray celestial observations have been mainly performed by satellites so far, but recently some opportunities are also provided by the International Space Station (ISS). I will introduce current status and scientific objectives about two missions lead by Japanese group: All-sky X-ray Monitor (MAXI) in orbit and high energy electron and gamma-ray observatory (CALET) planned for the launch in summer 2014.
